"I can certainly remember rolling pastry with my Grandmother Wood. It was something she was well-known for in the family."
~ Angela Turlington~
Directions:
Knead all ingredients and make three balls. Roll out each ball into a thin sheet and cut into strips. Add to boiling chicken broth. Cook for approximately 10 minutes and simmer 20 minutes. If you want to freeze the pastry, line pastry strips on wax paper and layer with wax paper in between pastry. Freeze this, and then once it is frozen you can bag it.
***This recipe was not written down. It was obtained from Maude Raynor's best recollection of the pastry recipe. I also contacted Pauline Moore and she gave the same recipe. Banner Chapel Church Women's Foreign Mission Society group used to make pastry for the church to sale. Allene Wood, Maude Raynor, and Pauline Moore were among the many members of this group. Frances Gibbs, Allene Wood's daughter said that Allene used to always add an egg when making her pastry. Maude Raynor and Pauline Moore said that they did not use an egg in their pastry recipe.
